Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing was carried off the field during Sunday’s Week 7 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs with an apparent leg injury.
Cushing’s left leg bent back awkwardly when he was hit low while attempting to rush the passer. He’s been ruled out for the game.
The 26-year-old Cushing has 12 sacks in Cheap Jerseys United States five years, but has seen his last two seasons get cut short due to injury. He played in only 11 combined games during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Speculation has already begun that the injury Cushing suffered against the Chiefs was to the same knee he injured a year ago — Adam Schefter reported just that moments after Cushing went down.
The Texans can’t afford to lose Cushing, but they do have a bit of depth behind him. Whitney Mercilus will be asked to pick up a bit of the slack in Cushing’s immediate absence.
Last week was an emotional time for the Vikings, who rallied around Adrian Peterson after he learned of the tragic death of his son. Peterson’s 62 yards rushing in the loss to the Panthers was his lowest output of the season, but the All-Pro is still fourth in rushing yardage and second in touchdowns in the league. Of much greater concern for the Vikings is the quarterback position, where Josh Freeman was just named the stater in only his second week on the team. Having given up on Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel as viable options, the team is hoping Freeman, who spent his first four seasons in Tampa before being cut two weeks ago, can bring much needed consistency to the position.
The Vikings have only held an opponent under 30 points once themselves — coincidentally, their lowest total was also 27 points — and have plenty of issues of their own on defense. They are giving up an average of 418 yards per game — second worst in the league — and have been especially susceptible Cheap Jerseys US to the pass thanks to a banged-up secondary. The loss of linebacker Desmond Bishop to a torn ACL doesn’t make matters any better.
