The Jets have traded safety Calvin Pryor to Cleveland in exchange for linebacker Demario Davis, the Browns announced Thursday.
Pryor, a first-round pick in 2014, didn’t have much of a future in New York before this trade. The team decided not to pick up his fifth-year option this offseason, which was a clear indicator it planned to move on from him. Then, at OTAs this month, he was demoted, according to NJ Advance Media.
The brains will be going to the Boston-based foundation with specific instructions to be used in CTE research.
The degenerative brain disease is caused by repeated blows to the head, which often leads to concussions. By donating their brains, Hasselbeck and Marshall could help researchers figure out the best way to help athletes protect their heads from such blows.
“During my football career, we didn’t have enough information on the long-term effects of concussions and brain trauma,” Hasselbeck said in a release. “I want to be part of the solution, and by pledging my brain, I am doing my part to provide the data to protect the next generation of athletes.”
Hasselbeck spent 18 seasons in the NFL, but only Cheap Jerseys China Paypal has one documented concussion during that time. His father, Don — who was an NFL tight end — also pledged to donate his brain.
